The ‘Casualty’ actor, known for his appearances with his father on ‘Gladiators’, was stopped for speeding in his luxurious 2023-plate Mercedes near Swindon, Wiltshire, in March. At Swindon Magistrates Court, Barney admitted he had been driving between 93mph and 95mph, but his defence team challenged police claims of 97mph. Presiding magistrate Mark Baker rebuked Walsh for not attending the hearing in person, calling his absence “arrogant.” The court approved his absence due to filming commitments.
During the hearing, Prosecutor Anna Hughes detailed how Wiltshire Police caught Barney speeding past a camera at 97mph. However, his legal team argued he believed he was driving between 93mph and 95mph, and he intended to plead guilty. Despite potential fines of up to £2,500, the magistrate reduced the penalty to £1,000 and added five penalty points to his licence, totalling eight points. Additionally, Barney was ordered to pay £490 in court costs within 28 days. Known for his roles in ‘Breaking Dad’, ‘Doctors’, and ‘Casualty’, Barney co-hosts ‘Gladiators’ with his father and appeared in various TV shows and movies.
