BBC DIY SOS is making a return to Swansea once again, this time to renovate a local family’s residence. The popular show, known for its heartwarming transformations, has impressed Swansea residents in its past visits. This time, the ‘Big Build’ project will focus on completely revamping a family’s home to make it more functional and suitable for their needs.
The DIY SOS team is calling for support from local tradespeople, volunteers, contractors, and suppliers to assist with the project happening from Wednesday, November 27 to Wednesday, December 4, 2024. They are seeking contributions in terms of skills and materials to make the renovation a success. This initiative aims to significantly improve the lives of a local family by providing them with a newly renovated home.
The show first came to Swansea in 2014 when it transformed the home of Jack Morris, who had a rare form of muscular dystrophy affecting his mobility. The community rallied together to help Jack, showcasing the power of kindness and community spirit. In subsequent visits to Swansea, DIY SOS undertook projects like creating a facility for children leaving care and building a new home for a charity that supports disabled individuals in surfing.
For those interested in assisting with the DIY SOS Swansea project, there will be a ‘trades briefing day’ on Tuesday, November 5, followed by the main build from November 27 to December 4, with the big reveal scheduled for Thursday, December 5. Volunteers are invited to join Nick Knowles and the team on-site for as many days as possible to be part of this impactful transformation.
