Hooded Gunman Ambushes Man, Shooting Him in Leg as Child Cries in Terror in Wales
A shocking incident unfolded when a hooded gunman was caught on camera ambushing a man and firing at him while a mother and child ran to safety, screaming in terror. The alarming footage, circulating on social media, captures the assailant approaching a residence on Simonswood Lane in Kirkby and shooting a 61-year-old man. As the gunshot rings out, a woman, believed to be a relative, shouts for the man and child to seek refuge inside the house. The cloaked figure then flees the scene amid chilling screams, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.
Merseyside Police responded to the incident on Monday, September 30, at about 8.55 pm. The victim was swiftly taken to the hospital and is now in a stable condition. Subsequently, on October 1, a 41-year-old man from Kirkby was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to endanger life and possessing a firearm with intent to endanger lives. He has since been released on conditional bail as investigations continue.
To address the gravity of the situation, the police have increased their presence in the area, deploying a mobile unit and granting additional stop-and-search powers until the following morning. Detective Chief Inspector Phil Atkinson from Merseyside Police’s firearms investigation team condemned the attack, emphasising the potential danger posed when firearms are used in residential areas.
