A new café bar is set to open in Caerphilly town centre, offering stunning views of the castle and delicious Italian cuisine. Three brothers, Jonathan, Richard, and Martin Rees, who already own several establishments in the area, are behind the new venture named Rosita’s. Inspired by Italian café culture, the brothers aim to create a space that combines Welsh classics with Italian favourites, serving a variety of drinks in a revamped setting.
The building on Castle Street will house Rosita’s, providing a relaxed dining experience from breakfast to dinner. The youngest brother, Jonathan, shared that the idea for the café came during a trip to Rome, where they were inspired by a bustling café run by a woman named Rosita. With opening hours planned from 9 am to 9 pm Sunday to Thursday, and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, the café hopes to attract customers from Caerphilly and beyond.
The brothers also intend to enhance the outdoor seating area by introducing canopied, heated spaces for guests to enjoy views of the castle in any weather. Councillor Jamie Pritchard of Caerphilly Council expressed excitement for the new establishment, highlighting the job opportunities and the economic boost it will bring to the area. The plan aligns with the town’s regeneration project, aiming to elevate Caerphilly as a thriving tourist destination.
Rosita’s is part of a wave of investment in Caerphilly’s hospitality sector, joining other recent openings in the town. The Rees brothers are eager to welcome their first customers later this year and contribute to the town’s growing dining scene. The café’s focus on creating a vibrant café-bar culture that complements the castle’s charm is set to add to Caerphilly’s appeal as a modern destination.
