Dad’s sudden death after saying he felt ‘anxious’ to his wife

A heartbroken wife has shared the heartbreaking account of her husband’s sudden passing after he expressed feelings of anxiety in a call to her shortly before. Billy Morley, aged 45, was on a stag weekend in Liverpool when he tragically passed away in a hotel room on Stanley Street surrounded by his friends. Billy, a beloved husband to Ashley and a father to five-year-old April, as well as a stepfather to 13-year-old Jack, had traveled from Cleator Moor, Cumbria, for what was supposed to be a joyful trip with his friends. However, he is believed to have suffered a heart attack shortly after discussing his anxiety with his wife, leading to his unexpected death.

Ashley Morley, 36, his widow, recounted the series of events leading to Billy’s passing in an interview with the Liverpool Echo. She described the last phone call she had with him, which she says still feels unreal. Billy had mentioned feeling anxious during the call, prompting Ashley to suggest ways to alleviate his anxiety, including offering to arrange for him to return home earlier. When she tried to reach him again, there was no response, and shortly after, she received the devastating news from a friend that Billy was with paramedics. The heart-wrenching call from her husband’s friend confirming his passing left Ashley devastated.

Reflecting on her relationship with Billy, Ashley described their unexpected connection that led to a strong marriage. She spoke fondly of their deep love and the impact Billy had as a father, particularly highlighting his adoration for April. Ashley praised Billy’s caring and helpful nature, both in his work as a builder and with their family and friends. She expressed gratitude for the support she received and the precious moments she shared with Billy, emphasizing the importance of cherishing their memories.

Ashley also extended her appreciation to those who assisted Billy on the day of his passing, acknowledging the difficult circumstances and expressing relief that her daughter’s last memory of her father was a loving interaction. Despite the immense loss, Ashley expressed her determination to carry on for her family, especially for April. The grief-stricken widow reflected on the irreplaceable bond she shared with Billy, describing him as amazing, funny, and always smiling. She also highlighted his generous and caring nature, a quality that endeared him to many, including their extended family.

As Ashley continues to navigate the profound loss of her husband, she finds solace in the memories they shared and the unwavering support of her loved ones. She holds onto the precious moments and gestures that symbolized Billy’s love and thoughtfulness, ensuring that his legacy lives on through their family. Though the pain of his absence is overwhelming, Ashley draws strength from her children and remains determined to honour Billy’s memory and the love they shared.
