Shoppers have been warned not to eat some popular food items after concerns they could be contaminated with salmonella or cyanide. The Food Standards Agency has issued several alerts in recent weeks, warning that certain products could be unsafe for consumption and should be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Tesco has taken the precautionary step to recall their Tesco Plant Chef 2 Meat-Free Burgers with Melting Middle, amid concerns that the centre of the burgers may maintain a high temperature once cooked, leading to an increased burn risk to customers. If you have bought this product, do not eat it. Instead, return it to any Tesco store for a full refund.
Heron Food is recalling their Smileys Surprise Eggs due to undeclared hazelnuts (nuts) on the label, presenting a risk to anyone suffering from a nut allergy. Symptoms of an allergic reaction can range from itching and rash to more severe issues such as breathing difficulties.
Dunnes Stores has recalled their Italian Tomato and Basil Sauce due to an undeclared milk ingredient, which could pose a risk to those with milk allergies or intolerances. Asda and Co-op have recalled Al’Fez Natural Tahini due to salmonella contamination, with symptoms including diarrhoea, fever, and abdominal cramps.
Additionally, Leo’s Import Export & Trading Ltd is recalling Buram Nuts in Syrup due to potential foreign bodies and the presence of apricot kernels that can release hydrogen cyanide when consumed, making the product unsafe to eat.
