Doctor reveals £1 ‘daily serving’ of key food can help with weight loss and cut snacking

A recent discovery by a doctor has shed light on how incorporating a specific food item in your daily diet can aid in weight loss and reduce snacking habits. Dr. Karan Raj, also known as @dr.karanr on TikTok, responded to a video where a woman mentioned adding seeds to her water to aid weight loss. Dr. Raj identified these seeds as chia seeds, which can be purchased for as little as £1.39 for a 200g pack at ALDI.

In his informational video, Dr. Raj explained that foods high in fibre, like chia seeds, can impact the microbiome, brain signals, and gut hormones, leading to a feeling of fullness. High-fibre foods such as whole grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds not only fill you up faster but also have a low caloric content. Consuming fibre-rich foods triggers the release of appetite-suppressing hormones, helping in weight management. Dr. Raj highlighted that the body burns approximately 20 calories for every 100 calories of fibre consumed during digestion, contributing to weight loss efforts.

While emphasising the importance of high-fibre foods in weight loss, Dr. Raj clarified that increasing fibre intake does not mean eliminating foods lacking in fibre entirely. He encouraged individuals to adopt consistent behaviour over time to enhance fibre consumption, positively impacting calorie usage, intake regulation, weight management, and appetite control. By making conscious choices and including foods rich in fibre, individuals can potentially support their weight loss goals.

This insightful revelation by Dr. Karan Raj underscores the significance of incorporating fibre-rich foods like chia seeds into one’s daily diet regimen to aid in weight loss and combat snacking tendencies effectively.
