Domino’s urgently warns customers about issue with garlic and herb dip
Domino’s has issued an urgent alert to customers who have recently purchased pizza from their stores. In an email sent out on September 16, a spokesperson from the pizza franchise informed customers about a possible health risk associated with one of the chain’s popular menu items. The warning stated that traces of peanuts were found in some Garlic and Herb dip and Honey and Mustard dip products. Customers were advised to dispose of the dips if they have a peanut allergy and refrain from consuming them.
The warning extended to both the 100g ‘Big Dip’ pots and the smaller 25g pots that accompany most pizza orders. Domino’s emphasised that customers without a peanut allergy do not need to take any further action. The pizza chain expressed regret for any concern and inconvenience caused by the issue. For customers with questions or concerns, Domino’s recommended contacting them via their website.
According to the Food Standards Agency, approximately 6% of the UK adult population are estimated to have a clinically confirmed food allergy. Common symptoms of food allergies can vary from skin reactions and digestive issues to throat problems and respiratory difficulties. The NHS advises being vigilant for symptoms such as hives, stomach cramps, tightening of the throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, and eye irritation.
Allergies can be triggered by a range of foods, including milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, and wheat. Individuals with existing allergies, asthma, or eczema may have an increased risk of developing a food allergy. It is advisable to be cautious and seek medical advice if experiencing symptoms or suspecting an allergic reaction to certain foods.
Domino’s alert serves as a reminder for all customers to be mindful of allergens in food products and highlights the importance of food safety in the catering industry. Customers are urged to take necessary precautions when dealing with food allergies to ensure their health and well-being.
