He suggested that a civil war in the UK was “inevitable” and launched personal attacks on the Prime Minister.
According to reports by the BBC, Billionaire Musk’s exclusion from the summit is a direct result of his social media behaviour during the unrest. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer is set to host the International Investment Summit on October 14, two weeks prior to the autumn Budget. The summit aims to attract top chief executives and financiers, showcasing the UK as “open for business” after recent political and economic challenges.
Notable attendees, such as BNY, Blackstone, and CyrusOne, have confirmed participation, although the full list of attendees has not been disclosed. Blackstone has already sealed a £10 billion deal for Europe’s largest AI data centre in Blyth, Northumberland. Jon Gray, the firm’s president, will be present at a roundtable event hosted by Sir Keir.
While Musk was a featured guest at the UK Government’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Safety Summit last year, his absence at the upcoming event signals a shift in the government’s approach. His social media posts, which included sharing false information and provocative remarks, have been widely criticized. Musk’s engagement with posts promoting the idea of civil war and derogatory comments towards the Prime Minister sparked controversy and condemnation.
