An update has been issued by Cardiff and Vale University Health Board for patients planning to visit University Hospital Llandough on Friday. The notice comes after a bus crashed into parked vehicles in one of the car parks on Thursday afternoon. Fortunately, there were no injuries in the incident, but it left two cars badly damaged and the bus with significant front-end damage between “public car park one” and the multi-storey car park opposite.
The hospital is currently assessing the site’s safety before reopening, with access to the affected car park restricted as removal work continues. The health board expressed gratitude to staff for their professionalism during the incident, along with South Wales Fire and Rescue and South Wales Police for their swift response.
While retrieval of previously parked vehicles was allowed on Thursday, access to the car park was limited. A hospital spokesperson advised visitors planning to travel to University Hospital Llandough on Friday to allocate extra time for their journey due to the ongoing situation.
South Wales Police confirmed being called to the collision involving the bus and stationary cars at Llandough Hospital for investigation. South Wales Fire and Rescue Service also responded to ensure safety at the scene.
