A courageous woman, Sarah Frei, who was left paralysed after being hit by a drunk driver, is now determined to live her life to the fullest despite having both her legs amputated. Sarah was only 17 when the accident occurred, caused by 45-year-old Dustin Wesley Andersen crashing into the vehicle she was travelling in at 70mph. Following a challenging two-month hospital stay and undergoing 20 surgical procedures, Sarah made the tough decision to have both her legs amputated.
Throughout her recovery journey, Sarah surprised many by returning to cheerleading, completing her academic pursuits, and pursuing a degree at university. She has since engaged in various adrenaline-fueled activities like surfboarding, rock climbing, and swimming, showcasing her unwavering spirit. Recounting the accident on July 30, 2020, when Sarah and her friends were hit head-on by Anderson’s speeding truck, she shared the intense medical interventions she underwent, including multiple surgeries that ultimately led to the amputation of her legs. Despite the physical and emotional challenges she faced during her recovery process, Sarah persevered through intensive rehabilitation and eventually returned home after a 75-day hospital stay.
Sarah’s father, Greg, took a stand for justice, advocating for new legislation to prevent individuals arrested under similar circumstances from being granted bail immediately.
