A 22-year-old man who transitioned from working in a warehouse for minimum wage to earning £50,000 per month by selling pre-loved trainers has expressed that his current success is insufficient, and he is determined to do more. Jack Long’s entrepreneurial journey began at age 12, when he sold unwanted items from family members on eBay, setting his sights on establishing his own business in the future. After completing college in 2021, he worked in a warehouse picking role, saving money for his entrepreneurial aspirations.
In March 2023, a serendipitous moment occurred when he came across a pair of Nike Air Force trainers at a car boot sale, sparking the idea of turning his passion for selling trainers into a profitable venture. By April 2023, having accumulated approximately £5,000 from warehouse picking, he launched Recycled Streetwear, a pre-loved trainer business. Initially selling around 30 trainers a month, Jack’s business quickly expanded after joining the real-time shopping app Tilt. He now sells approximately 1,500 trainers monthly, generating £50,000, which he primarily reinvests back into the business.
Operating out of Buckinghamshire, Jack dedicates his time to sourcing, cleaning, and authenticating shoes, showcasing them through live-streams for evening sales. He aims to establish Recycled Streetwear as a leading retailer in the pre-loved shoe market. Despite his remarkable success, Jack views the £50,000 monthly income as insufficient, reinvesting most of it into the business while withholding details of his personal wage.
Looking ahead, Jack envisions further growth for his business, aiming to revolutionise the online shopping experience and become a prominent figure in the pre-loved shoe market. By intercepting shoes before they reach landfills, refurbishing them, and offering them at reasonable prices, he hopes to make a positive impact on the environment while expanding his business. As he tirelessly works towards achieving his goals, Jack remains driven and unwavering in his pursuit of success.
