A cybersecurity expert has warned phone users to be vigilant for signs of hacking. Christian Espinosa of Blue Goat Cyber outlined four key red flags that may indicate a phone has been compromised. The first sign is rapid battery drainage, even with minimal usage, which could be a result of malware. Espinosa advised checking battery settings for suspicious apps and deleting unfamiliar ones promptly.
Similarly, an unexplained surge in data usage, leading to unusually high bills, could signal a hack. Malicious software may be consuming data in the background. Excessive pop-up ads, causing device slowdowns, are another potential alarm. Espinosa suggested reviewing recent downloads and deleting any dubious apps. Lastly, sluggish performance or frequent crashes may indicate malware infection, requiring steps like app closures, cache clearing, and software updates for resolution.
