A major fire has shut down a key road in Cardiff, leading to traffic congestion in the area. Emergency services, including a large turntable ladder, are currently on the scene dealing with the incident. The fire is believed to have originated in the flats above the India Kitchen takeaway on Caerphilly Road in Birchgrove. Eyewitnesses reported buses being diverted, and the road has been sealed off up to the junction with Heathwood Road.
At the scene, fire crews from Cardiff Central are working to address the situation. Smoke damage to the building can be seen in images captured by photographer Rob Browne. South Wales Fire and Rescue Service has deployed four appliances to the scene, but details of the incident are not yet available.
