A man has been jailed for concealing drugs in a fake fire extinguisher and a disguised Lynx deodorant can. Michael Morgan, a heroin and cocaine dealer, was caught with a stash of drugs hidden in a false bottom of the fire extinguisher in his car. This incident marked the fourth time the 52-year-old has been apprehended for dealing Class A drugs, with three previous lengthy custodial sentences on record.
Swansea Crown Court heard that an observant police officer noticed a man on a bicycle behaving suspiciously near Morgan’s vehicle in Swansea. Following the suspect, the officer discovered heroin and cocaine, weapons, and over £1,200 in cash in Morgan’s possession. The court learned that the officer witnessed a suspected drug transaction and subsequently found drug paraphernalia, cash, and illicit substances in the vehicle during a search.
Further investigations revealed that a can of Lynx deodorant in the car actually contained cocaine and Valium tablets. In addition to the hidden drugs in the fire extinguisher, officers also discovered a concealed knife, a capsule of morphine tablets, and a knuckle duster in Morgan’s possession. Mobile phones seized from Morgan showed numerous calls and text messages related to drug supply.
Having pleaded guilty to multiple charges including possession of drugs with intent to supply and possession of offensive weapons, Morgan received a seven-year prison sentence. Despite a one-third discount for his guilty pleas, he will serve six years and eight months for drug-related offences and an additional four months for weapon-related charges consecutively. The judge warned Morgan that his sentences would increase in severity if he continued with criminal activities.
Morgan’s defence lawyer explained that the defendant had struggled to break free from a life of drug addiction but relapsed due to personal challenges. The court acknowledged Morgan’s extensive criminal record and reiterated the serious consequences of drug dealing. With Morgan set to serve at least half of his seven-year sentence in custody, the case marked another chapter in his history of drug-related offences.
