A mum has made a remarkable transformation by losing 13 stone, which is half of her body weight, through following a specific diet. Carys Teasdale, originally weighing 26 stone and 3.5 pounds, decided to make a change after being diagnosed with gestational diabetes while pregnant in 2020. Concerned about developing type 2 diabetes, Carys took action to overhaul her eating habits.
Reflecting on her old lifestyle, Carys shared, “My eating habits were shocking. I would usually skip breakfast and indulge in fatty foods while working as a chef. I had a penchant for bread, takeaways, and binge-eating on crisps and ice cream. These habits were ingrained since childhood.” Determined to lead a healthier life for her daughter, Carys joined a Slimming World group in Ogmore Vale, initially weighing 26 stone 3.5 pounds and wearing a size 30.
Carys overcame her fear of judgment at the gym by starting with walks and eventually embracing exercise as part of her routine. Through her dedication to the diet and exercise regimen, she has shed a total of 13 stone and 4.5 pounds, equating to over half of her original weight. Carys expressed, “I am literally half the person I used to be. What I have lost in weight, I have gained in health, strength, and confidence.”
The mum credits Slimming World’s food optimizing plan for allowing her to enjoy her favourite foods in a healthier way. Encouraged by her success, Carys is now actively engaging in activities with her daughter and approaching her job as a chef with newfound creativity. She emphasized that through the support of her Slimming World consultant and fellow group members, she has found a sustainable way to maintain her lifestyle changes.
Carys’ Slimming World consultant, Janthia Morgan, is launching a new group in Coity, continuing to empower individuals in their weight loss journeys. Carys expressed her gratitude towards Slimming World for transforming her life and expressed her commitment to maintaining her newfound health and confidence.
