An athletic young father from Felixstowe, East Suffolk, has been diagnosed with incurable brain cancer after experiencing strange sensations in his fingers. Jack Carpenter, a 36-year-old personal trainer, started noticing numbness in his fingertips and difficulties in carrying out simple tasks like switching off his car or picking up a pen. Following a CT scan in August, Jack and his wife Emily received the devastating news of three tumours in his brain. The shock was so extreme that Jack fainted in his chair upon hearing the diagnosis.
In September, Jack was diagnosed with grade three astrocytoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer with a prognosis of three to five years. Despite this prognosis, Jack remains determined to overcome it with health kicks. He will undergo radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment starting from October 21, aiming to improve his prognosis and reduce the size of his tumours. Jack and Emily have two young daughters, Margot and Elodie, for whom Jack is fighting to provide a future.
