NatWest and RBS customers report being locked out of accounts

NatWest and RBS customers have raised concerns regarding difficulties accessing their accounts through the banking app, as reported by Wales Online. The issue seems to have impacted users’ ability to send payments, prompting frustration among customers. DownDetector, an outage tracker, recorded over 1,000 complaints from NatWest customers and nearly 200 from RBS users after 7am today.

The problem appears to involve users being unexpectedly logged out of the app when attempting to process transactions. This disruption is particularly inconvenient as it occurred on the final working day of the month, a time when many individuals receive their salaries. The cause of the app malfunction remains unclear, and it remains uncertain if all NatWest app users are affected.

Customers have expressed their dismay on social media, with some sharing their experiences of repeatedly being logged out while trying to make payments. In response to the complaints, NatWest acknowledged the issue and stated that their technical team is investigating the matter, although no specific timeline for resolution was provided. With approximately 19 million customers, NatWest Group faces significant pressure to address the disruption swiftly.

The Mirror has reached out to NatWest for further comment on the situation. As customers await a resolution, the impact of this app malfunction on the banking operations of a substantial number of users remains a matter of concern.
