Nick Knowles lost almost two stone before Strictly by making one diet change

Nick Knowles, the well-known DIY SOS presenter, has been making significant lifestyle changes in preparation for his participation in the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing. The BBC show, which has recently faced some controversies involving former professionals, is now equipped with a support team to ensure the well-being of its contestants, both mentally and physically.

Ahead of his Strictly journey, Nick Knowles, who is paired with dancer Luba Mushtuk, revealed his proactive approach to maintaining his health. He shared that the show provides ample medical assistance, including physiotherapy support. Knowles expressed his readiness for the mental challenges of the competition, having consulted psychologists and having access to a support system in place if needed.

At 61 years old, Nick Knowles has focused on refining his physique by adopting a strict diet and exercise routine, resulting in a weight loss of almost two stone. His regimen includes limiting himself to one meal a day, avoiding carbs, and prioritising proteins and vegetables. Previously, Knowles underwent a wellness retreat in Thailand in 2017, which helped him shed nine kilos and introduced him to a ”vegan flexitarian” diet.

Despite limited formal dance training, aside from learning Tango steps during a travel series, Knowles is determined to tackle the challenges presented by dances like the Charleston on Strictly Come Dancing. With a family background in dance and advice from his sisters, who are dancers, Nick Knowles is gearing up for an exciting and physically demanding experience on the dance floor.
