Nutritionist reveals the six things you should do for successful weight loss

A nutritionist has shared six key steps for successful weight loss, as reported by Wales Online. With the rising rates of obesity in the UK, achieving weight loss is a common goal for many individuals. Recent data from the Government indicates that a significant percentage of adults in England are either overweight or living with obesity. This trend has been increasing since 2015, raising concerns due to the associated health risks like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and cancer.

Despite the abundance of weight loss advice available, it can be challenging to navigate the best approach. To address this, nutritionist Luke Hanna highlighted six essential behaviours backed by a study published in the Obesity Reviews journal. The study included nearly 7,000 participants who successfully lost weight and maintained it over several years. The identified key behaviours were meal planning, having a regular breakfast, increasing vegetable intake, reducing sugar and fat intake, and engaging in regular physical activity.

For healthy weight loss, the NHS recommends aiming for 150 minutes of physical activity per week, consuming your recommended 5 A Day of fruits and vegetables, losing weight gradually, reading food labels, opting for water over sugary drinks, limiting sugar and fat intake, and sharing your weight loss plan with a supportive individual. Seeking advice from a GP if concerned about weight is also advisable.

By incorporating these six behaviours into your lifestyle and following the NHS guidelines, individuals can strive towards achieving sustainable weight loss goals. Remember that adopting a healthy approach to weight management is key to long-term success and overall well-being.
