A person has tragically died after being hit by a train near a station. British Transport Police confirmed the incident, with officers and paramedics responding to the scene shortly after midday on Friday, September 27. Despite immediate assistance, the individual was pronounced dead on site.
The spokesperson for British Transport Police stated, “Officers were called to Rogerstone railway station at around 12.05pm today (27 September) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.” The circumstances are not deemed suspicious, and a report will be submitted to the coroner.
Transport for Wales initially halted services between Rogerstone and Risca & Pontymister, causing disruptions with cancellations and delays. However, by late afternoon, the lines were reopened and services were gradually returning to normal. TfW cautioned that some services might still experience delays despite the reopening of these stations.
