Plan submitted to turn former Bridgend hotel into housing

A planning application has been submitted to Bridgend Council to transform a former village hotel into housing. Developers at Mainty Group Consulting Ltd have proposed converting the former Old Kings Head Hotel in High Street, Ogmore Vale, into flats if approved. The plans include creating nine flats, with five designated as “self-contained affordable” properties. The project aims to maintain the building’s original colouring and façade design, along with restoring its original features and finishes.

The former hotel, located near a pharmacy and burger bar, has reportedly fallen into disrepair over the years, becoming an eyesore in the area. While the site was previously used as flats, it is now described as dilapidated and suffering from decay. The proposed development also includes parking at the rear of the site.

The plans will be reviewed by the local planning authority in the coming months for a final decision. If approved, this initiative could breathe new life into a neglected property, providing much-needed housing options in the community. Residents and local officials will eagerly anticipate the outcome of this proposal as it moves through the planning process.
