Police issue artist impression of man who has been missing for 16 months

Police in Cardiff have released an artist’s impression in their search for a man who has been missing for 16 months. Shane Barnett, aged 49, was last seen leaving the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff on May 7, 2023. His family has been actively looking for him and has made emotional appeals for information regarding his whereabouts.

Despite extensive investigations, there have been no confirmed sightings of Shane since he was last seen on Allensbank Road, near the hospital, around 12.30pm on the day he disappeared. South Wales Police have stated that Shane grew up in Bettws and is known to live a transient lifestyle, possibly residing in a tent. He also has connections to Swansea and has previously lived in the Roath area of Cardiff.

Described as 6ft 5ins tall with short, light grey hair, Shane was last seen wearing a grey North Face t-shirt, a black jacket, green cargo trousers, black trainers, and carrying a black rucksack. His sister, Nicola Casey, has fervently searched for him, refusing to believe he may no longer be alive until he is found. She has tirelessly put up posters and posted on social media for information.

Anyone with details on Shane’s whereabouts is urged to contact South Wales Police, quoting occurrence number 2300147308. The community continues to rally together in the hope of bringing Shane home safe and sound.
