Gareth Cottrell, 51, who resides at the flats on Skaithmuir Road in Tremorfa, revealed that rats have been a persistent issue in the block for over a decade. He expressed frustration at the lack of action from the council to repair the damaged walls that allow the rodents to enter.
Cottrell shared his exasperation, stating that despite multiple visits from pest control experts, the problem persists as the root cause has not been addressed. He recounted how the rats have wreaked havoc in his flat, even managing to eat through his clothes. The ongoing battle with rodents has taken a toll on Cottrell, who described the block as “crawling with them.”
Despite efforts by pest control teams, the infestation continues to escalate, with rats quickly penetrating walls and causing further damage.
