Beatles icon Ringo Starr has cancelled the rest of his tour in America after falling ill. The 84-year-old musician will not perform in the two remaining shows of the tour in the US. Ringo had to scrap his Philadelphia performance on Tuesday and subsequently decided to cancel his much-anticipated show at Radio City Music Hall in New York City scheduled for Wednesday evening.
A post shared via social media explained that Ringo caught a cold, and upon consulting a doctor, he was advised to cancel the remaining shows to rest. The message conveyed Ringo and the All Starrs’ well wishes to their fans and expressed hopes to see them soon. Ticket holders for the cancelled events are being offered refunds.
Ringo Starr, along with his All Starr Band, began their series of concerts on September 7 and managed to perform 10 times across the US, with his last appearance on September 22 in Niagara Falls, Ontario, according to reports. Despite his recent health setback, Ringo has been actively engaged in his music career, having released an EP titled ‘Crooked Boy’ in April featuring contributions from the Strokes’ Nick Valensi.
In an interview with Variety, Ringo discussed his approach to songwriting and his desire for more positive tracks in his music. He expressed the importance of incorporating a positive outlook in his songs, even when addressing darker themes. Ringo specifically mentioned a song called ‘Gonna Need Someone,’ which he requested as a rock song from collaborator Linda Perry, showcasing his diverse musical interests and creative process.
