Roofers dump huge pile of rubbish outside man’s front door

A pensioner in Pentrebane, Wales, named Robert Rowlands has been left distressed after roofers completed their job at his house but failed to remove the construction waste, leaving a significant pile of debris blocking part of his driveway. The roof tiles were replaced as part of the work carried out by Apex Roofing Repairs Ltd, a Cardiff-based company, and Mr. Rowlands was charged £6,500 for the services.

The roofing work began on September 12, but instead of using a skip to dispose of the old tiles, the workers left them heaped on Mr. Rowlands’ driveway. Despite numerous requests from Mr. Rowlands’ family to have the waste removed, the debris has remained untouched for over three weeks, leaving Mr. Rowlands unable to leave his house as the waste obstructs his driveway.

Expressing his frustration, Mr. Rowlands stated that the delay in removing the waste has been causing him immense distress and inconvenience. His family members have also voiced concerns over his well-being, highlighting that he has mobility issues and needs a clear pathway to move around safely.

The situation has escalated to the point where the family has had to clear a path through the debris themselves, as Mr. Rowlands is unable to navigate the blocked driveway. Despite assurances from the roofing company that the waste would be removed promptly, the pile remains untouched, adding to the distress of the elderly resident and his family.

An Apex Roofing representative mentioned that they planned to use a grab company instead of a skip for waste removal but failed to provide a concrete timeline for when the debris would be cleared. Meanwhile, Mr. Rowlands and his family continue to wait for a resolution to the situation, hoping for a swift removal of the waste causing them significant inconvenience and worry.

In light of the ongoing issue, concerns have been raised about the impact on Mr. Rowlands’ well-being, given his limited mobility and the hindrance caused by the obstructing waste. The family has been left frustrated by the lack of action from the roofing company and the prolonged delay in resolving the situation to ensure Mr. Rowlands’ safety and access to his home.
