Tech tycoon Mike Lynch’s cause of death has been confirmed following a superyacht tragedy, as reported by Wales Online. Billionaire entrepreneur Dr. Lynch, along with three other British nationals, tragically lost their lives after the sinking of the Bayesian superyacht off the coast of Sicily. The inquest hearings revealed that Dr. Lynch, aged 59, drowned, while the causes of death for the other three individuals are still under investigation.
Detective Superintendent Mike Brown of Suffolk Police described how the yacht sank rapidly between 4.15am and 4.45am on August 19, resulting in the loss of seven lives. The bodies of the victims were located in the vessel’s cabins, with the time of death recorded as 5am on the same day. Inquests for the British nationals were opened and adjourned until April 15 next year, pending further investigations.
Dr. Lynch, known for founding Autonomy, a software company, had recently been acquitted in a fraud case in the US, and the yacht trip was a celebration of his acquittal. The investigations into the cause of the yacht sinking are being carried out by the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) and Italian authorities.
The tragic incident claimed the lives of Dr. Lynch, his daughter Hannah Lynch, Morgan Stanley International bank chairman Jonathan Bloomer, and his wife Judy Bloomer. The victims from other nationalities included a US lawyer and his wife, as well as a Canadian-Antiguan national working as a chef on the yacht.
