This is what’s filming on one of Cardiff’s busiest streets this week

Filming for the Doctor Who spin-off, “The War Between the Land and the Sea,” has recently been taking place in Cardiff city centre. Russell Tovey, known for his roles in various TV shows including “Being Human” and “Gavin & Stacey,” was spotted on set at the City Arms pub on Quay Street. Tovey, along with other actors, was seen filming inside the pub and occasionally taking breaks outside.

The spin-off, under the direction of Russell T Davies, features the return of the classic Doctor Who monster, the Sea Devils. The cast includes Tovey and Gugu Mbatha Raw, both of whom have previously appeared in Doctor Who in different roles. The series is set within The Whoniverse, the wider universe of Doctor Who and its related stories.

The filming crew was hard at work showcasing UNIT soldiers armed and ready to take on alien threats. The spin-off has been eagerly awaited since its announcement earlier this year and is scheduled to air in 2025. Alongside Tovey and Raw, Jemma Redgrave, Ruth Madeley, and Alexander Devrient will reprise their roles from Doctor Who as UNIT operatives.

The City Arms pub was transformed into a bustling film set, barricading passersby from entering the premises as filming took place. Fans of the long-running sci-fi series were treated to glimpses of the production in action on one of Cardiff’s busy streets. The series promises an exciting storyline as humanity confronts the formidable Sea Devils.

“The War Between the Land and the Sea” marks another chapter in the expansive Doctor Who universe, bringing together a talented cast and crew to deliver a thrilling spin-off for fans to look forward to. With filming in full swing in Cardiff, audiences can anticipate the return of familiar faces and iconic monsters in this upcoming series.
