Thug bit woman and threatened to ‘put thousands of pounds on her head’

A thug in Wales has been sentenced to 23 months in prison after viciously attacking a woman, biting her, pulling her hair, and threatening to put “thousands of pounds on her head” if she reported the assault to the police. Lewis Holton, 24, from Pantside near Newbridge in Caerphilly, launched the brutal attack on the woman, spitting at her, striking her face, and throwing a vape pen at her. The Cardiff Crown Court heard that Holton also has a previous conviction for biting a woman.

During the sentencing hearing, it was revealed that Holton not only physically assaulted the woman but also made sinister threats to intimidate her from seeking help. He described himself as “dangerous” and warned the victim to wait and see what would happen next if she reported the incident. Holton pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and witness intimidation, among other charges.

The victim, in a statement read to the court, expressed the deep psychological impact of the assault, stating that she constantly experiences flashbacks and nightmares, leading her to feel unsafe and anxious in her daily life. She described how the attack had changed her way of life dramatically, leaving her on edge and constantly looking over her shoulder.

In mitigation, Holton’s defence lawyer mentioned that the assault was brief and highlighted the defendant’s participation in courses while in prison awaiting trial. However, Judge Simon Mills Esq condemned the violent behaviour, warning Holton of the possibility of facing a significant prison sentence if such conduct continues. Holton was sentenced to 23 months in prison, with an order to serve half of the sentence in custody before release on licence.

The case serves as a stark reminder of the profound impact of domestic violence and the importance of seeking support and justice for victims of such brutal acts. The court’s decision sends a strong message that such violent behaviour will not be tolerated, and those responsible will face consequences for their actions.
