Dating app Plenty of Fish has partnered with comedian Grace Campbell to reveal the top dating trends for 2025. The trends, influenced by popular culture and social media, aim to define the evolving dating experiences of singles. Terms such as ‘No-habiting’, ‘swamping’, and ‘thrift-matised’ have emerged to shape dating behaviour in the upcoming year. Additionally, trends like ‘Fiscal Attraction’ and ‘rejuve-dating’ are predicted to gain prominence in the dating scene.
Plenty of Fish conducted research into the attitudes and behaviours of 1,500 UK daters to curate these trends. The dating app aims to provide relatable insights through Campbell’s advice hotline, drawing on her own dating experiences. Campbell highlighted the importance of these trends, stating they reflect shared experiences among daters in their quest for love.
One of the trends, ‘Swamping’, emphasises the value of being one’s authentic self in a relationship, rather than feeling pressured to impress. ‘No-habiting’ reflects the choice to delay moving in with a partner to prioritise personal space, a trend embraced by 83% of UK daters. ‘Thrift-matised’ describes the balance between cost-effective dating and enjoyable experiences, with many opting for low-cost date activities.
Another trend, ‘Fiscal Attraction’, focuses on seeking a financially stable and attractive partner. The research suggests that many singles value financial stability and attractiveness in a potential match. These trends offer insights into the changing dynamics of dating in the UK and provide guidance for singles navigating the modern dating landscape.
