‘Vital’ Roadworks to Close Part of Major Road for Eight Months – Wales Online
A significant roadwork project has been announced that will see a lane of the A40 closed for eight months to ensure the safety and long-term stability of the road. The roadworks are set to take place between Halfway and Llandovery from October 12, 2024, to May 6, 2025. The planned works on the six-mile stretch of the A40 will involve repairing a slope prone to landslides, installing a new drainage system, and implementing safety barriers.
To minimise disruption, there will be weekend and evening closures, along with a single lane closure using temporary traffic signals on weekdays. A temporary speed limit of 40mph will also be enforced for the duration of the project. The closure of the westbound lane outside of road closure periods is necessary to protect road users from potential instability during the works, although this will be reviewed and the lane closure removed whenever possible throughout the project.
