David ‘Dai’ Richards, a 31-year-old father of three from Mountain Ash, Rhondda Cynon Taf, tragically passed away in Prague on Saturday, September 21. The incident occurred the night before when he was attacked with a vodka bottle while on a stag do in the Czech Republic. Mr. Richards suffered blunt force trauma after being struck on the head in what his family described as a “blind attack”.
His family shared heartfelt tributes, describing him as an amazing father, partner, son, brother, and friend who was the glue that held the family together. He left behind his partner Jola Simms and three young children. Speaking on behalf of the family, Mr. Richards’ sister-in-law and cousins revealed the details of the tragic event, sharing how the attack took place as he was conversing with locals on the street.
Despite efforts from a French passer-by to administer first aid, Mr. Richards succumbed to his injuries in a Prague hospital. The family expressed their disappointment in the lack of assistance received from local authorities, feeling the process was neither helpful nor compassionate.
