Woman gets paid to walk her own dog in bid to clear £10,000 debt

A woman from Swansea, Robyn Mort, has found a unique way to chip away at her £10,000 student loan debt by getting paid to walk her dog, Frank, a chocolate Labrador. Robyn, a HR advisor, walks Frank for an hour a day using an app called Biscuit, which rewards her efforts with vouchers. She typically receives a £10 voucher every six to seven weeks, bringing her closer to her financial goal.

Starting her side hustles in July 2024, Robyn has already earned £700 through activities like product testing and selling clothes on Vinted. Inspired by others pursuing similar financial goals, Robyn is determined to reach her £10,000 target by next July. Discovering the Biscuit app through a chance encounter at a Costa, Robyn now utilises it regularly to earn rewards based on walking her dog and completing other dog care tasks.

The app determines the required walk duration based on the dog’s microchip number, rewarding users like Robyn with biscuits that can be exchanged for vouchers or cashed out. Robyn needs 750 biscuits for a Costa voucher and 1,060 biscuits for a £10 M&S voucher. She plans to continue side hustling even after reaching her goal, using apps like Biscuit alongside others to generate extra income for future expenses like holidays or a new home.

Robyn is enthusiastic about the potential of side hustles to help her achieve her financial objectives and has found the Biscuit app to be a valuable tool in her money-saving efforts. As she continues on her debt-clearing journey, she aims to inspire others to explore diverse ways to enhance their income and achieve their financial aspirations.
