A “wonderful father” has tragically passed away after collapsing at the finish line of the Cardiff half marathon. Stephen Jenkins, 37, was described as a genuinely kind person who wore his heart on his sleeve. Jenkins suffered a cardiac arrest and despite efforts from medical teams, he sadly died at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. Originally from Carmarthenshire, Jenkins worked as a senior director in business development and lived in London with his partner and their young daughter.
Jenkins’ parents remembered him as a loving son, partner, and father, highlighting his caring nature, loyalty, and love for children. Jenkins was a keen runner, cyclist, and an avid Welsh rugby fan, reflecting his passion for his Welsh heritage and language. Run 4 Wales, the event organisers, expressed their condolences and praised the swift response of medical teams.
The community is mourning the loss of such a beloved figure, with many sharing fond memories and heartfelt tributes.
