Zoe Ball says ‘I have wandered back’ as she returns to Radio 2

Radio presenter Zoe Ball has made a triumphant return to hosting her show on BBC Radio 2, declaring, “I have wandered back.” Ball, who had been absent from The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show since a brief return in August, expressed her excitement for being back on air. She expressed gratitude to her colleague, radio presenter Scott Mills, for covering for her during her absence. Upon her return, Ball kicked off the show by playing Earth, Wind & Fire’s classic track “September.”

In a post on social media, Ball announced her comeback, stating, “Back on breakfast @bbcradio2 tomorrow morning at 6:30.” The BBC Radio 2 spokesperson shared the station’s anticipation for welcoming Zoe back to the breakfast show. Ball had initially taken a break after her return on August 8, with Gaby Roslin and Mills filling in for her during that time.

Having taken over the Radio 2 morning programme in 2019 from Chris Evans, Ball has a long-standing career in radio and television. She notably became the first female host of the Radio 1 Breakfast Show in 1998. Ball’s diverse broadcasting career includes co-hosting BBC’s Live & Kicking and presenting shows such as Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two.

In a heartfelt post earlier this year, Ball announced the passing of her mother and paid tribute to her memory. The broadcaster’s return to Radio 2’s breakfast slot follows this personal loss, marking her dedication to her work amidst challenging times. With her signature charm and charisma, Zoe Ball’s return to Radio 2 promises to bring back the high energy and entertainment her listeners have come to love and expect.
