Pizza giant Domino’s has announced plans to recruit an additional 5,000 workers across the UK and Ireland in the coming months, offering opportunities for delivery drivers, in-store staff, and pizza makers. The London-listed company is looking to expand its 35,000-strong workforce in preparation for its peak trading period. Despite a slow start to 2024, Domino’s has reported a recovery in customer confidence, leading to increased sales and a need for more employees.
Domino’s, which operates 1,344 sites in the UK and Ireland, has experienced lower food and energy costs but anticipates higher labour costs due to the rise in the national living wage. The company aims to bolster its team, referred to as “Dominoids,” as it gears up for the busy part of the year. Chief Operating Officer Nicola Frampton expressed gratitude to the existing team for their contribution to the company’s success and highlighted the various job opportunities available.
Following a slow start to the year, Domino’s saw a boost in sales during the Euro 2024 football tournament and continued with its store expansion plans. With expectations to open 70 new stores in the current financial year after launching around 60 last year, company CEO Andrew Rennie remains optimistic about the future. The recruitment drive comes amidst a positive outlook for Domino’s, which is focused on sustaining growth and driving sales through strategic initiatives.
