A Yodel delivery driver has sparked outrage after being caught on CCTV throwing a customer’s parcels over a 6ft high gate. Steph McIntosh, a business advisor from St Austell, Cornwall, was shocked to find two large cardboard boxes containing breakable figurines tossed onto her driveway on September 9. McIntosh, who purchases items in bulk for her business, was watching TV when the delivery was attempted, but she missed it as she did not answer the phone, thinking it was a scam call.
Upon reviewing her CCTV footage, McIntosh was dismayed to see the driver hurling the boxes over the gate instead of leaving them outside her door. She expressed concern that some of the figurines inside the boxes had been damaged in the process. McIntosh made a formal complaint to Yodel, highlighting the unacceptable behaviour of their driver. She also reached out to the company she purchased the items from to facilitate a refund process.
In response, a spokesperson from Yodel apologised for the incident, emphasising that parcel delivery safety is their top priority. The company assured that appropriate measures would be taken to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future. McIntosh, who collects snow globes, stressed the emotional impact such reckless handling could have had on more delicate items and expressed the importance of proper delivery procedures to prevent similar mishaps.
The incident has drawn attention to the importance of respectful and careful handling of deliveries, especially those containing fragile goods. McIntosh’s experience serves as a reminder of the responsibility delivery companies have in ensuring the safe and secure delivery of customers’ packages.
