Drunk Elvis fans have been uncovered as the culprits behind the disappearance of a famous ‘willy mirror’ from a bar in Wales. The mirror, a unique attraction at Cheetah Bar and Grill in Porthcawl, was recently swiped by two intoxicated men and transported all the way to London.
The incident took place during the hectic weekend of the annual Elvis Festival in Porthcawl, drawing crowds from around the globe. The mirror, affectionately known as “Willy”, vanished from the bar’s women’s bathroom, causing distress to the owners and regular patrons who cherished the quirky decor piece.
Following a social media campaign titled “free Willy,” the men were identified via CCTV footage, prompting the owners to reach out to them in London. Initially denying the theft, the intoxicated duo eventually confessed and returned the mirror to the bar with a minor crack on the glass.
The beloved mirror has now been reinstated at the venue, much to the delight of fans who have suggested throwing a welcome home party for it. The bar owners have decided not to involve the police, opting to rehang the mirror for visitors to enjoy and take photos with, maintaining the establishment’s eccentric charm.
