Admiral Insurance, a Wales-based company, recently celebrated its 20-year anniversary as a listed company on the London Stock Exchange. The company, which originated in 1993 selling car insurance over the phone, went public in 2004 with a market cap of £771 million. At that time, it employed 1,500 staff in south Wales and had reached one million motor insurance customers in the UK.
Fast forward to today, Admiral boasts a market capitalisation of £8.6 billion and a global workforce of nearly 13,000, with around 7,000 employees based in south Wales. In December 2007, Admiral achieved FTSE 100 status and continues to hold a position in the top 50 companies. Over the past two decades, the company has expanded its customer base to over 10 million globally.
To mark this milestone, Admiral Group conducted a market close ceremony at the London Stock Exchange. Chief Executive Milena Mondini de Focatiis expressed pride in the company’s growth over the years and credited the hard work and dedication of colleagues for the achievement. She thanked both customers and shareholders for their support and looked forward to the company’s future.
Admiral’s success extends beyond the UK, with offices in several countries including Canada, France, Gibraltar, India, Italy, Spain, and the US. In 2023, the group generated revenues of £4.81 billion, with a strong performance continuing into 2024 with record half-year figures.
