BBC presenter Jay Blades appeared in court once again to face a new charge following a recent court appearance for engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate or family relationship. Blades, known for hosting the popular show “The Repair Shop,” attended court on Tuesday in relation to a driving offence. The 54-year-old is accused of using his mobile phone while driving in Wombourne, Staffordshire, in April last year, an allegation he had previously refuted.
Arriving at Cannock Magistrates’ Court in a black suit with a serious expression, Blades faced this driving charge just days after appearing at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court for the coercive behaviour charge involving his estranged wife, Lisa Zbozen, a fitness instructor. Blades, a father of three, will have a plea and trial preparation hearing at Worcester Crown Court scheduled for October 11 in relation to the coercive behaviour charge. In response to his initial charge, he stepped down from his role as an ambassador for the King’s Foundation. The presenter had previously received a daytime BAFTA TV award for a special episode of “The Repair Shop” featuring the King when he was the Prince of Wales.
