A person has died after being struck by a train near a Welsh railway station in Bridgend. British Transport Police (BTP) officers and paramedics responded to the incident near Wildmill station late on Saturday night. BTP is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic event. The incident occurred at around 11.15 pm on Saturday, and despite the efforts of emergency services, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a separate incident earlier the same day in Rhondda Cynon Taf, another person sustained “life-changing” injuries after being hit by a train. This incident led to the closure of all lines between Penrhiwceiber and Aberdare between 5 pm and 7 pm while emergency services attended to the situation.
British Transport Police spokesperson stated, “We were called to an area of the line close to Wildmill station at around 11.15 pm on Saturday 14 September following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Officers attended along with paramedics but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are currently working to establish the full circumstances behind the person’s death.”
