A drug dealer was apprehended by police in a dramatic scene as cocaine spilled out of his trousers during a routine stop of a vehicle he was a passenger in. Abdallah Chakir, aged 36, was traveling in a Peugeot 5008 when Kent Police officers pulled them over in Tunbridge Wells due to suspicious activity.
Initially, Chakir attempted to deceive officers by claiming he and his companion had just returned from a weekend of clubbing in London. However, further investigation through automatic number plate recognition systems revealed that he had actually been in Kent during the days he insisted he was away.
Upon closer scrutiny, police found cocaine falling from Chakir’s trouser leg, along with other drugs that he tried to discard under the car. When searched in custody, more drugs were found, amounting to 174 “street deals” in total. Chakir, who had no fixed address, was arrested in April on charges of possessing cocaine with intent to supply.
Pleading guilty, Chakir was subsequently sentenced to two years and eight months’ imprisonment at Maidstone Crown Court. Tunbridge Wells chief inspector Stuart Paul warned offenders that the police force is committed to tackling drug supplies in the community and urged residents to report any suspicious activities promptly.
The incident serves as a vivid illustration of law enforcement’s vigilance and dedication to cracking down on drug-related crimes. Residents were encouraged to stay alert and report any unusual activities to the authorities for a safer community.
