‘I’m marrying my PE teacher, my mates still call her ‘Miss”

A heartwarming love story has emerged from Wales, where a man has announced his engagement to his former physical education teacher. Scott Davies, aged 33, and Helen Booth, aged 41, first encountered each other in 2009, when Scott was a student at Barclay School sixth form in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, and Helen was his PE teacher.

Their paths crossed again in 2022 in Stevenage, leading to a blossoming romance. Scott proposed to Helen in August 2024 on a beach in Ibiza, surrounded by a crowd of 200 onlookers. The couple now resides together in Shefford, Bedfordshire, and is set to tie the knot next year. Reflecting on their unusual journey to love, Scott expressed his happiness, stating, “It’s a bit of a whirlwind story. I never would have thought I’d marry my ex-teacher, but we are very happy together.”

Despite an eight-year age gap, Scott and Helen’s relationship has grown from strength to strength. They have navigated amusing moments, such as friends still referring to Helen as ‘Miss’, and encounters with acquaintances who recognize their unique connection. Helen shared her excitement for the future, expressing, “I am looking forward to getting married next year, having a baby together, and continuing to be so happy together.”

Their romance, which began professionally and evolved into something special, has surprised many around them, with both Scott and Helen embracing the unexpected turn their lives have taken. As they look forward to their upcoming nuptials, the couple remains grateful for the happiness they have found in each other.
