A 21-year-old man has been sentenced to jail for a vicious assault that left a victim in Wrexham hospitalised with a brain injury. Brandon Morris from Kingsway, Chester, admitted to causing grievous bodily harm with malice aforethought, resulting in the victim requiring surgical intervention for a brain bleed at Stoke Hospital. Morris received a 16-month sentence at Mold Crown Court on August 29, as reported by North Wales Live.
The incident occurred in Wrexham city centre in the early hours of Sunday, December 10 last year. Morris approached the victim, delivering a forceful punch to the face that rendered him unconscious and caused him to fall to the ground with nothing to cushion the impact, according to North Wales Police. The victim suffered a fractured skull, brain bleeding, and bruising, leading to the discovery of a blood clot that necessitated the removal of part of the skull to alleviate pressure.
Detective Constable Danielle Craig highlighted the severe repercussions of Morris’s actions, stating that the victim, who had a flourishing career and aspirations, now faces life-altering consequences, including memory loss and the need for further surgical procedures. Craig emphasised the message that this case sends regarding the devastating effects of a single punch and the importance of refraining from violent behaviour.
