In a humorous turn of events amidst the heavy rain and subsequent floods that swept through parts of North Wales on Monday, one daring man decided to navigate the flooded streets in an unconventional way. Josh “Asbo” Taylor, a member of the Asbo Boyz car club, saw an opportunity for some lighthearted fun. He purchased an inflatable chair and took to the waters for a paddle near Rhyl’s Clock Tower.
Filmed by Paris Kendrick, Taylor was captured rowing across the flooded area, displaying high spirits and entertaining onlookers. Paris described the moment as simply “a bit of fun.” Providing more insight into the impromptu adventure, Paris explained, “One of our friends bought an inflatable and decided to go for a row by the little bridge near the Clock Tower where it had flooded.”
As the group drove around, they encountered the submerged streets. Reflecting on the situation, Paris mentioned, “We had driven around and come across some flooding. There was a couple of roads affected in Rhyl, but Towyn was far worse hit than Rhyl.” Following the heavy rainfall, several roads were closed, and Loggerheads Country Park, located on the Denbighshire/Flintshire border, had to shut its gates due to the flooding.
Despite efforts to reinforce flood defences at Loggerheads following significant flooding in 2023, the new measures were not completed in time to prevent the latest bout of flooding. Reports from North Wales Live shed light on the challenges faced by the area due to the recent weather conditions.
