Monday blues now hit Tuesdays thanks to working from home

Monday Blues could now be a thing of the past, as they’ve shifted to Tuesdays due to hybrid working. Research has revealed that Tuesday is the new Monday for seven out of 10 Brits, as many now work from home at the beginning of the week. The concept of hybrid working aims to provide more flexibility and increase employee satisfaction and well-being by splitting the workweek between home and the office.

A study conducted by Wacky Warehouse surveyed 2,000 working adults and found that two-thirds (66%) experience the Monday blues on a Tuesday, with over half of UK workers (52%) feeling more stressed on a Tuesday than any other day. Tasks usually designated for Mondays spill over to Tuesdays, leading to rescheduled meetings and a challenging shift in mindset from working at home to being in the office for more than three in five UK staff.

Despite the extension of the Monday Blues to Tuesdays, Mondays and Fridays remain the most popular days for working from home. Forty-six percent of respondents view it as an opportunity to extend the weekend, while an equal proportion prefer to avoid commuting stresses. With the improved work-life balance and cost savings associated with not having to commute, 60% of participants stated they would not consider a job that required full-time office attendance.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary and aiming to combat the emerging Tuesday Blues, Wacky Warehouse offered children and adults a chance to enjoy a new ball pit in Manchester. The activity involved searching for three golden balls among 75,000 balls in the pit, with prizes including a £200 B&M voucher and two £100 Greene King vouchers. Additionally, Wacky Warehouse is hosting free play sessions for kids across 62 UK venues on October 12th and 13th, with advance booking required for the complimentary sessions.

Sam Simpson from Wacky Warehouse commented on the initiative, expressing the desire to help people overcome the Tuesday blues with a special activity in Manchester. This effort reflects the brand’s commitment to providing engaging experiences for families and individuals amidst the challenges of hybrid working and shifting work dynamics.
