A mother from Wales experienced a frightening ordeal after using ‘fake’ weight loss injections purchased on Facebook for only £20 each. Jodi Jones, 37, from Eryrys, became delirious, unconscious, and started vomiting blood after using the injections. She revealed on Good Morning Britain that she resorted to these extreme measures due to weight gain caused by pregabalin, a drug prescribed for nerve pain. Hindered by degenerative discs in her spinal cord that limit her ability to exercise, she was desperate to drop from a size 14 to a size 10. Encouraged by others’ success stories with the injections, she contacted a beautician on Facebook and bought four shots intended to be used monthly.
Initially witnessing some positive results, Jodi’s condition rapidly deteriorated, as reported by North Wales Live. Following the first injection, she lost half a stone in a week but then faced severe health issues after the second injection. Within hours, she started vomiting blood, became delirious, and was in and out of consciousness. Her daughter had to call an ambulance, which took her to the hospital where she received treatment and was discharged the next day. Jodi, who believes she received a ‘fake’ injection, has vowed never to use such jabs again and strongly advises people to consult with the NHS first if considering weight loss treatments.
She emphasised the importance of seeking medical advice through proper channels rather than relying on unregulated avenues like beauticians. Jodi warns others of the risks associated with such injections and encourages individuals to consider safer alternatives through medical professionals. Acknowledging the dangers she faced, she advocates for responsible weight loss methods under medical supervision.
