Upon realising she had appendicitis, she underwent an appendectomy, leading to her absence from this weekend’s coverage.
In a social media update, Brookes shared her journey, initially mistaking her symptoms for food poisoning before the diagnosis of appendicitis. She expressed gratitude towards her Sky Sports F1 colleagues for their support and commended the company for ensuring she received the necessary care. Despite missing the Azerbaijan Grand Prix coverage, Brookes assured her followers that she will return for the upcoming event in Texas.
Brookes also extended heartfelt thanks to the medical staff at Liv Bona Dea hospital in Baku, praising their exceptional care during her treatment. Sky’s coverage for the weekend also saw commentator David Croft absent, as he is on honeymoon following his recent marriage. Harry Benjamin took over commentary duties, with Natalie Pinkham leading as presenter, joined by experts Bernie Collins, Karun Chandhok, and Ted Kravitz. Former champion Jacques Villeneuve made a return to add depth to the broadcast team.
